Nintendo’s Ocarina of Time remake is about to launch, with the official release date penciled in for November 5. For the most part, it should be a midnight launch (Best Buy in the US is even running an old-school physical midnight release) for fans to enjoy. However, you may be happy to hear that the exact launch time does differ a little depending on where you are in the States.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time arrives as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, and perhaps one that will convince many gamers to finally upgrade from the original Switch to its successor, which was released in June last year. In any case, if you’re wondering just when you’ll be able to play the remake in your region, we’ve put together everything you need to know just below.
When does the Ocarina of Time remake release?
Nintendo has built this remake from the ground up, and it arrives as part of The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary celebrations. As mentioned before, it’s expected to be a midnight launch (on November 5) for most regions, and that rule is also followed on the US East Coast. However, due to time zone differences, it launches as early as 9 PM on the West Coast.

What’s different about the remake?
Long-time gamers will probably know that the original Ocarina of Time was a landmark release, back in 1998 for the Nintendo 64. Like many N64 games, it gave us the first 3D entry to the franchise, and all these years later, it’s getting a makeover for the Switch 2. It’s not a simple remaster, but rather a complete remake, boasting modern visuals, faster loading times, and smooth 60 FPS gameplay.
The biggest gameplay changes are modernised movement and controls. Link can now jump manually, sprint, freely control the camera using the right stick, and switch between items without repeatedly opening the pause menu. Quality-of-life changes include the new Threads of Time story tracker, a constant day/night cycle, and even microphone support for playing Ocarina songs. Nintendo even released a special Ocarina compatible with the game for $49.99, though it’s already sold out at the Nintendo Store.
