One of the biggest retailers just confirmed fans’ next chance to get one of the hottest The Legend of Zelda releases of the year.
Fans and collectors are less than 48 hours away from being able to get their hands on the limited-edition The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Nintendo Switch 2. The system will be available through select Best Buy stores along with the limited edition The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller on November 5.
The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 Can’t Stop Selling Out

Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 has consistently sold out and been re-released multiple times since its debut, with the latest of these coming on October 29. As a result, the latest version of the hit console has become almost impossible to find in certain regions, including Brazil. In an interview with Brazilian YouTube channel Coelho no Japão, Nintendo Latin America general manager Bill van Zyll said of the issue, “I will tell you that it’s a global phenomenon.”
“We have this issue absolutely everywhere. We apologize for that. That certainly is not the intent. We underestimated how well it would be received – and there’s certainly some markets that stand out.” Zyll added, “The pre-sales are hitting their max, and certainly that’s what happened to us in Brazil… Please be patient. We expected a positive response, but the magnitude… It’s amazing.”
Apart from the 40th Anniversary Nintendo Switch 2, The Legend of Zelda fans have several other major pieces of celebratory merchandise to look forward to this year. These include a themed slim hard pouch for the Nintendo Switch 2, plus matching shoulder pouch, all-in-one storage bag, a case that will hold up to six games, and a wireless, Zelda-themed Holi Pad TURBO controller.

As exciting as all of the new merchandise might be, The Legend of Zelda fans are perhaps most eagerly awaiting the release of the upcoming The Legend of Zelda feature film from Nintendo and Sony Pictures. In September, franchise creator and industry legend Shigero Miyamoto confirmed that the title of the film is simply The Legend of Zelda. “Once you see the film, you’ll understand why there isn’t a subtitle,” Miyamoto stated. “This is an original film based on the many stories, ideas, and concepts of the series, built up through the games over 40 years.”
Back in November 2025, fans got their first look at The Legend of Zelda stars Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth on-set and in-character as Link and Princess Zelda. While Bragason’s Link is seen decked out in the character’s iconic green tunic, Ainsworth’s Princess Zelda is donned in her bright blue Hyrulean garb with her bow in hand. The Legend of Zelda is slated to arrive in theaters on April 30, 2027, and will also star Uli Latukefu as Gandondorf and Dichen Lachman as Impa.
